At a very young age percussionist Michael de Miranda did performances and concerts at schools as a member of a family-orchestra. In 1991 he graduated in Latin Percussion at the Rotterdam Conservatory. He has played in many Salsa bands and Brazilian bands and orchestras, such as Son Latino, Fruta Bomba, Son Alegre, Amazonia, La Grande Travessia, and Rumbata. He teaches at various schools of music and gives workshops. Michael has his own, very successful samba percussion-school: Sambalanco. He recorded two CD's with Sambalanco. In 2004 Michael recorded his first solo-CD, with the title Fora de Hora. In this project Michael put 9 Brazilian poems to music.
